To Our Faithful Supporters and Prayer Partners,
As promised, here is the news about an exciting opportunity regarding the purchase of property to support our three primary ministry initiatives of church planting, theological training, and gospel outreach!
First, a little backstory. Many of you may remember some conversation and pictures from our pre-field presentation about a multi-sport court our ministry partners, Rod and Tina Poplin, were leasing from the George municipality. The plan was to build an action center on that property for youth events, and also use the building for our church planting initiatives. While we still have access to the property for the next three years, we found out two months ago that the municipality is not going to renew the lease once the current lease agreement expires. This decision by the municipality makes it unwise for us to spend money to build the action center since we will not retain the right to use the building beyond the next three years.
Through a variety of circumstances, within weeks of finding out this information about the municipality’s decision, the Lord brought a property situated in a very strategic part of the city of George across the path of our ministry team. The property includes two main buildings, a couple of small outbuildings, and a half-acre of open land. It is situated in an easily accessible location that will allow for deliberate integration and regular interaction with the multi-ethnic community of George. This property will provide an ideal setting for the ministries of Inspire George, which is the team church-planting non-profit entity under which we operate on the field. The mission of Inspire George is to evangelize non-believers and disciple believers through a variety of ministry initiatives, including church-planting, theological training, ministries for children, teens, and young adults, sports outreach, and intervention and upliftment initiatives. We believe that a visible presence in the community will demonstrate our commitment to impacting the city and will give our ministry team a central hub from which to minister and serve.
Obviously, the biggest challenge is the cost. The total purchase price for the entire property is $296,000, which is significantly below current market value. We need to raise $186,000 by December of this year, and the remaining $110,000 by October of 2020. We will then need to raise some additional funds for renovations and for adding a multi-sport court on the half-acre of land. By God’s grace and the generosity of His people, $90,000 has already been committed to the purchase of the property!
While I hesitate to share this need when so many of you are sacrificing to support our ministry already, I do so for several reasons:
- You can pray with us that God will provide what we need for the purchase of this property. We certainly believe He is able! (Ephesians 3:20)
- The Lord may place it on your heart to be a part of this project in some way.
- Sometimes churches, individuals, or businesses are looking to give to projects like this through a special offering, one-time gifts, or end-of-year giving.
- You may not be able to give yourself, but you may know of other who might be interested in supporting a project like this.
If you have any questions about this project, or you have an interest in helping us in some way, please feel free to contact me at troy@southafricanministries.org. We certainly need all of you to pray with us that the Lord will provide for this important ministry project!
We would love to hear from you
For the Sake of His Name,
Troy and Danielle
