Dear Faithful Supporters and Prayer Partners,
With the modern-day reality of endless news programming, we are certainly not at a loss for constant information about the current global crisis. Most of us like to know the latest news and numbers. I would guess the majority of us have read quite a bit about the coronavirus and watched numerous reports and briefings.
However, today, I listened to the best and most important thing I’ve heard or read on the coronavirus. John Piper has given Christians and non-Christians alike a much needed, thoroughly biblical and Christ-centered perspective on the unprecedented global events of our day in his new book, Coronavirus and Christ. The book is offered free by Crossway Publishing in written or audio formats here:
I encourage you to turn off your favorite cable news channel, or set aside your Netflix series, and “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” This will be time well-spent.
Coronavirus, Christ and Compassion
South Africa is experiencing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic like most places in the world. While the current number of confirmed coronavirus cases is still under 2,000, the 21-day government imposed lockdown is having a significant economic impact on the country, particularly among the large population of people living in poor township communities. Our Inspire George Non-Profit Organization is working to minister through local churches in the city of George to provide food for the many people in need in our city. We recognize these are challenging times financially for many of you in the States as well, but we also know that some of you may be looking for practical ways you can help in this time of need. We can provide food for a family of four people for two weeks for $30. We are planning to give food vouchers and/or food hampers in $30 increments as a way of showing Christ in our community. If you would like to join us in this important compassion outreach effort, you can send a check made out to “Calvary Baptist Church” with “Inspire George Food Project” on the memo line to:

Thank you for your faithful prayers and partnership in our ministry. We are doing well in our lockdown state and striving to trust the Lord day by day, especially as our lockdown was just extended an additional two weeks (through April 30).
We would love to hear from you
