April Update

Dear Friends,

Hello once again from George, South Africa!

From the beginning of our journey to South Africa, we have been guided by the desire expressed by the psalmist in Psalm 67:1-3: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!

It has certainly been one of the greatest blessings and joys of our lives to watch the Lord glorify Himself here in George, South Africa, just as He is doing throughout the world. We continue to be greatly encouraged by the group of people from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds that God is drawing to Himself and bringing into Life Fellowship Church. We remain engaged in a study of the book of Romans, focusing on the main idea that the gospel reveals that God justly justifies the unjust so that we might offer our lives in worship to Him for His eternal glory. After a year in Romans, I would definitely echo Paul’s words in Romans 11:33: Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! Please pray that the Lord will continue to use His Word for His glory and the good of our church family. You can find our Romans study at www.lifefellowship.co.za/sermons.

We also want to praise the Lord for the progress on the church building for the Bybel Baptist Church and the attached house for the pastor and his family in the Pacaltsdorp community of our city. We are very grateful for several generous individual donors and churches in the States and South Africa who contributed to this significant project. While there are a few things still needing completion, the majority of the work is done and the house and church are both usable. Praise the Lord!

We are also rejoicing in the start of Foundations Theological Institute, the gap year program designed to train the next generation of South African leaders for life and ministry in the local church. The Lord has blessed us with seven students this year who are demonstrating a genuine hunger to learn the Word. They have also become part of Life Fellowship Church and have been a great blessing to our church family.

While the Lord continues to work in encouraging ways here in George, we have some important, and perhaps unexpected, news to share with you regarding our ministry here in South Africa. We believe the Lord is directing our steps back to ministry in the United States. We have been invited to join the ministry team at High Point Baptist Chapel in Geigertown, Pennsylvania, where I will be serving in a pastoral role in the areas of ministry development and discipleship. This is certainly a bittersweet transition we believe the Lord is providentially orchestrating in our lives. The “bitter” part is having to say goodbye to the many people with whom the Lord has graciously allowed us to develop meaningful relationships over the past six and a half years. The “sweet” part is the ministry opportunities and relationships that He has prepared for us at High Point, as well as the opportunity to be closer to our children, grandchildren, and parents. We are very confident that the Lord has provided capable ministry partners here in South Africa who will be able to provide the ongoing leadership needed for the ministry to continue to grow and flourish. We anticipate being here in South Africa through the end of June before we return to the States for our youngest son’s wedding and then we will begin ministry at High Point at the beginning of September.

We humbly ask for and need your faithful prayers as we navigate this major transition. We would also greatly appreciate your continued financial support through the end of August as we remain in ministry here through the end of June and then face the expenses of a move and reentry into life in the States. Your continued support through this transition would be a great help and blessing to us. Please also be reminded that we have recently joined a new mission organization in Sherman, Texas called GoSendMe Global (https://gosendmeglobal.org). If you have not yet been able to transfer your support for us to GoSendMe, the information on how to do that is included here:

  1. For those who would like to give online, go to our webpage: https://gosendmeglobal.org/missionary/troy-and-danielle-gahman. Once you have entered the amount you would like to donate, click the “Give” button. It will take you to a second page where you will be able to choose to make the gift recurring (monthly, quarterly, or yearly) and you will be able to choose a payment option. Please note that credit card payments have a 3% fee and e-checks have a $0.35 transaction fee. Once you have entered your billing information, click on the “Process Gift” button at the bottom. If you create a login and set up your own giving portal, it will make future giving easier and you will be able to print a giving statement at the end of the year for tax purposes.
  2. For those who would prefer to send a check or use your bank’s bill pay option (which carries no fees), you can send your gift to the following address:
GoSendMe Global, PO Box 913106, Sherman, TX 75091
Checks should be made out to GoSendMe Global. If you are sending a physical check, please DO NOT write our names on the check, but rather send a note with the check indicating that the gift is for Troy and Danielle’s ministry in George, South Africa. Bill pay checks may include our name on the memo line since this information is normally included on the tear-away portion. If you give by way of check, GSM Global will send a giving statement at the end of the calendar year for tax purposes.

We are continually aware that many of you have faithfully partnered with us over these past six and a half years and we are eternally grateful. God has used you, not only in our lives, but in the lives of many people here in George. We remain humbled and thankful for your partnership in gospel ministry for His glory. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about our upcoming transition.

For the Sake of His Name,

Troy and Danielle

We would love to hear from you!
