Prayers Appreciated

To Our Faithful Supporters and Prayer Partners,

“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ . . .” (Phil. 1:27). This first command in the book of Philippians provided the focus of our study last Sunday morning as we continue to meet every week now with the group Dave and Julie Rudolph have been leading over the past year and half. What a challenging and sobering command! Pray this will be true in our lives, in your own life, and for the group of young believers meeting regularly here in George as we continue to study Philippians together over the next two months.

Following our last update, we received some wise advice to be careful about giving specific names and details in our letters. So, I’ll just say that God providentially brought the young believer I mentioned at the end of the last update across our path the first week we were here. His knowledge of the Word is limited at this point, but he is eager to learn. We’ve attended three sessions of BLI (Biblical Leadership Institute) together and plan to start reading through the Scripture together beginning in Genesis. I’m excited to see what God does in his life through His Word!

I’ll mention two things you can pray about on our behalf. First, we’ve decided to have Grant complete his ninth grade year by homeschooling rather than continue in the South African school he was attending. We needed to do this to help him work through the challenges of all the change and transition over the past several months in his life. Please pray this will be a positive step in helping him acclimate to life here in South Africa. Second, I (Troy) partially tore the meniscus in my right knee this week while I was out for a run. I’m scheduled to have surgery Monday afternoon our time, and it’s looking like a four to six-week recovery time. You may want to pray more for Danielle than for me! Neither of these circumstances is what we expected, but we do want God to be glorified in both situations, so we very much appreciate your prayers for Grant and for my surgery.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support for all the ministry taking place along the Garden Route of South Africa. The gospel is advancing—your partnership is an indispensable part of this eternally important work (Phil. 1:3-5).

We would love to hear from you

For the Sake of His Name,

Troy and Danielle
