Dear Friends,
As I write this brief update, we are recovering from our 36-hour journey back to Pennsylvania earlier this week. The primary purpose of our six-week visit is to be with our youngest son Grant as he starts his Senior year of high school. We will also have the opportunity to spend some time with our other children and visit several of our supporting churches.
We are also hoping to see as many of you, our personal supporters, as possible while we are home. We are tentatively planning on having a “South Africa Update” fellowship with those who are partnering with us in our work in South Africa on Friday, September 17 at 7:00 PM. We will send more information about that event as it gets closer, but would love for you to add it to your calendar now. We have several exciting projects and ministry opportunities that we look forward to sharing with you.
Please join us in praying for our Life Fellowship Church family in South Africa. When we landed on Tuesday, we received a message that a faithful member of our church had just passed away unexpectedly. Anita had a passion for teaching the children in our group about Jesus every Sunday during children’s church. Her husband Phil is trusting the Lord, but is understandably shocked and grieving, as is our church family. We also have several folks in our church family that have recently lost family members due to COVID, and several people in our group are currently dealing with COVID. The “third wave” has hit our church family hard. We just resumed meeting three weeks ago after a four-week lockdown, but need to suspend our meetings this week because of the current COVID challenges our group is facing.
